Roadmap: German Standardization Roadmap on Artificial Intelligence – Version 2
Update of the groundbreaking results and recommendations for action of the first edition.
The roadmap continues the groundbreaking findings and recommendations of the first edition, providing an expanded and updated analysis of the existing and future needs for international norms and standards in AI. This forms the basis for creating “Artificial Intelligence made in Germany” as a globally recognized seal of quality for trustworthy technology. The roadmap is part of the German government’s AI strategy and is commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). The development and consolidation of the roadmap are accompanied by a high-level coordination group for AI standardization and conformity, mandated by the federal government.
In addition to the previous focal topics of fundamentals, security, testing/certification, industrial automation, mobility, and healthcare, the second edition also addresses new areas such as sociotechnical systems, financial services, and environment/energy. The second edition also identifies specific needs for norms and standards that need to be developed in accordance with the planned AI Act of the European Commission.
