AI Competence Centers

By establishing and expanding the competence centers for AI research, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) aims to further strengthen the existing well-positioned AI research in Germany and elevate it to an international top-level by focusing on outstanding AI locations. The AI competence centers are intended to facilitate networking and enhance the visibility and competitiveness of AI research in Germany on an international scale.

The following are some of the established AI competence centers:

• BIFOLD – Berlin Institute for the Foundations of Learning and Data

• MCML – Munich Center for Machine Learning

• ML2R – Competence Center for Machine Learning Rhine-Ruhr – Modular Machine Learning

• ScaDS.AI – Center for Scalable Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence

• TUEAI – Tübingen AI Center

• DFKI – German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence
